Specific Programmatic Interventions in last 1 year • District FP Action Plan: in progress • IUCD trainings: 144 IUCD master trainers for all districts • Refocussing on NSV: 22 districts have 44 NSV trained doctors – performance steadily increasing • District Hospitals being made FP Training Centres • FP IEC prototype available
Population Stabilization(State Level Initiative) • Formation of Bihar State Population council , 1st meeting held on 06/08/09 under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister. • State Level Coordination Committee has been formed for promotion of FP under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary and similar in districts under the chairmanship of District Magistrate for intersectoral convergence with other dept. • Inclusion of chapters on Population stabilization in school books. • Films on FP for telecast in cinema Hall (1-2 min.) under process.

Proposed Initiatives (2) • IUCD: Rs. 50 / insertion as incentive to ANM • Immediate Post Partum IUCD (IPPIUCD) Insertion • Equal emphasis on static and camp approaches to FP • Establishing Community based contraceptive distribution centres at HSC/AWC. ARSH to be part of VHND activities • ARSH: strengthening service availability at facilities • Planned interventions through partners (UNFPA) • Addressing Adolescents in in-school settings • Addressing adolescents in out-of-school settings
Proposed Initiatives (3) • Increasing accredited private clinics (at present: 135 clinics in 20 districts) • Santushti - PPP Model (JSK) – Rs 500 extra / case to accredited private clinic which does 30 cases in a day • Prerana – Incentive to eligible BPL couples (award given retrospectively to BPL couples from backward districts who fulfill Responsible Parenthood Practices: to promote delayed marriage, spacing of children and celebration of birth of girl child)
Other GoB schemes empowering girls and young women(having a bearing on age at marriage & addressing fertility) • Mukhyamantri Balika Cycle Yojana • Mukhyamantri Balika Poshak Yojana • Mukhyamantri Nari Shakti Yojana- 2 lakh self help groups formed across the state • Reservation of 50% seat for women in Panchayat-51% women Mukhiya is elected in last Panchayat election.
