    1. Colleague 101 Learning how to get around in Colleague

    2. Colleague, Web Advisor… Which is It? Colleague replaces the mainframe! It is a fully integrated, interactive software product from Datatel. It has CORE of information that is used in 4 subsystems. Subsystems are ST – student CF – financial HR – human resources CA - advancement

    3. Colleague, Web Advisor… Which is It? Web Advisor will be renamed OwlLink. OwlLink is an interactive web site that will be used by students, faculty and staff. Students will be able to register, view their transcript, placement test results, check for open sections, pay bills, get final grades, and more. Faculty will be able to view class rosters, submit grades online, get information on students in their classes, and more.

    4. Today’s Training is on Colleague

    5. Understanding Credit Course Information New Credit Term Names: year+semester (2008FA) FA=fall; SP=spring; SU=summer; IN=intersession New Credit Course Numbers Course numbers have been changed from 3 to 4 digits by adding a zero at the end. (EGL 101 becomes EGL 1010) New Credit Course Section Numbers: term+subject+course number+section number (2008FA DVR-0060-LD01) Synonym is the new 5-digit term for a course reference: 00419 (these numbers will be printed in the class schedule)

    6. Section Designators PGCC has decided to return to an “informative” system of assigning section numbers to its semester offerings. To do this, the format for every section designator will be two letters followed by two numbers. The numbers will simply be assigned sequentially within each two-letter designator beginning with 01 and ending with 99. The two-letter designators, and what they are meant to convey, are as follows: LD Day section at the Largo Campus (begins before 5 p.m.) LE Evening section at the Largo Campus XD Day section at an extension center XE Evening section at an extension center LW “Weekender class” at the Largo Campus XW “Weekender class” at an extension center DL Online, distance learning class LS Saturday class at the Largo Campus LU Sunday class at the Largo Campus XS Saturday class at an extension center XU Sunday class at an extension center TV TV, or telecredit, courses HY Hybrid format courses…part web, part on campus; part TV, part web, etc. IN Independent study One notable exception: Laurel College Center courses which are in fact taught by Howard Community College will appear as XD or XE or XS followed by two numbers and the letter “H” to denote the Howard connection. For example: XD03H; XS01H.

    20. How to Exit Colleague

    21. Colleague Etiquette Always close a record (student or course) when finished so someone else can have access. Only one person at a time can be in any one specific record! Log off Colleague when you’re away from your work station or when you have moved to another task at your desk. If you ‘time out’ on Colleague while you have a record open, IT staff have to become involved in closing that record. Name, date and time stamp all comments using PGCC guidelines. Exit Colleague properly to maintain data integrity. Be patient as we all learn the system together. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. ? Please encourage students to use OwlLink/Web Advisor. For help, call the Help Desk at ext. 0637.
