PREAL • A joint initiative of the Inter-American Dialogue (Washington) and the Corporation for Economic Research (Santiago, Chile). • a network of public and private organizations dedicated to reforming education policy in Latin America. • Works to involve key social actors in improving education.

  3. MISSION • Improve the quality and equity of education by improving education policy.

  4. Objectives • Involve civil society in education reform. • Monitor progress toward improving education. • Enrich the thinking of decision-makers and opinion leaders on education policy.

  5. PRIORITIES • Education standards and assessment • Decentralization, school autonomy and accountability • The teaching profession • Investment in primary and secondary education

Objectives • Strengthen efforts to measure student learning. • Increase understanding of how education standards and assessments: • monitor progress • improve quality • promote transparency and accountability • strengthen policy. • Promote strong, autonomous national systems of education assessment and participation in international assessments. • Strengthen capacity to manage and improve national testing systems, disseminate results, and improve policy.
