What is Research? • Research requires critical thinking, source evaluation, organization, and composition. • The goal of research is to draw on what others have to say about a topic and use the sources to create a unique perspective on the issue at hand. • Primary and secondary sources must be included when doing research.
Research: What it is Not • Research is not an informed summary of a topic by means of primary and secondary sources. • It is neither a book report nor an opinion piece nor work to write an expository essay consisting only of one's opinion on a particular topic. • It is not a way to just repeat something you have heard or seen!!
Is this a Research-based Project? • Project reporting the best baseball player of all time. Why yes or why no? • Description of the Roman Gods and all their powers.
