  2. Insert & Format Shapes On the Insert tab, in the Illustrations group, click the down arrow on the Shapes button to display the gallery of shapes. Click the desired shape, and drag to the desired position. 91 Shapes down arrow Gallery of shapes

  3. Insert & Format Shapes (continued) 91 To format a shape, click the shape to select it and then under Drawing Tools click the Format tab. To apply a shape style, select one of the styles shown or click the More button in the Shapes Styles group and select the desired style. To format a shape manually, click one of these options: Shape Fill, Shape Outline, Change Shape, Shadow Effects, or 3-D Effects. Format tab More button Manual format options

  4. Clip Art 91 On the Insert tab, in the Illustrations group, click Clip Art. In the Clip Art task pane, key a word or phrase in the Search for text box. Select where to search in the Search in box; click Go. Click the desired clip art to insert it in your document.   5. Clip Art (continued) 91 Click the clip art to select it. On the Format tab, under Picture Tools, in the Arrange group, click the Text Wrapping down arrow. Select the desired Text Wrapping option. On the Format tab, under Picture Tools, in the Arrange group, click Position, and then select the desired position. Position your insertion point over one of the open circles around the image. Drop Cap 91 To apply a drop cap: To remove a drop cap: • Select the letter to be enlarged and dropped; then on the Insert tab, in the Text group, click Drop Cap. • Click either the Dropped or In margin option. • Select the Dropped Cap; then on the Insert tab, in the Text group, click Drop Cap. • Click None.   8. WordArt 91 On the Insert tab, in the Text group, click WordArt. Click the desired WordArt Style to display the Edit WordArt Text dialog box. Select Your Text Here and key the desired text; then click OK to display your text in WordArt. To insert WordArt: Gallery of styles WordArt Key your text here

  9. WordArt (continued) 91 Select the text to display the WordArt format tools. Under WordArt tools, on the Format tab, in the WordArt Styles group, click Shape Fill to change the color of the fill or to add effects such as gradient, texture, or pattern. Click Shape Outline to change the color or weight of the border. Click Shadow Effects to add a shadow to a shape. To format WordArt: WordArt format tools

  10. Insert Picture From File 92 On the Insert tab, in the Illustrations group, click Picture to display the Insert Picture dialog box. Look in the appropriate folder and select the filename. Double-click or click Insert to insert the file. Format the picture as desired. Picture button Select filename

  13. Create a SmartArt Graphic 92 On the Insert tab, in the Illustrations group, click SmartArt. Select the graphic to be inserted from the gallery that displays; click OK. SmartArt command SmartArt gallery

  14. Create a SmartArt Graphic (continued) 92 Select the text in the heading placeholder, and key the heading in each box. Select the text in the bulleted items placeholder, and key the text.   15. Add a Watermark 92 On the Page layout tab in the Page Background group, click Watermark. Select the watermark to be added from the Gallery. The watermark can be seen on the printed document and also in Print Layout View and Full Screen Reading View. Watermark Watermark gallery

  16. Create Columns of Equal Width 92 On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click Columns. Click the desired number of columns. If you wish columns to be balanced, insert a continuous section break at the end of the last line of text. Columns command Column options

  17. Format a Banner or Masthead 92 Select the text to be included in the banner, click the Columns button, and select one column. Format the banner as desired. Banner

  20. News Release 96 Use to convey information an organization wishes to publish. Send to newspapers, radio stations, television stations, and other media outlets. State the most important information first, so that it can be cut or shortened from the end. Prepare on forms (called mastheads) or letterhead. Include: the date the news can be released contact information a short subject line that could serve as a heading

  21. News Release (continued) 96 Use ### or -30- to indicate the end of the news release. If two pages long, add an odd-page (page 1) footer with the word more centered to indicate that the release continues. On the second page, add an even-page (page 2) header (often called a slug line).
