Economic Briefing – Ontario Convention Center4.8.9 Inland Empire : • ½ of adults pop. not taken a college class + we have land = bluecollar economy • Gold mines – construction/distribution/manufacturing – allbluecollar focus • Need knowledge workers vs. land workers (Dr. David Stewart – UCR- Dean of Anderson - Graduate School) – White collar vs. Blue collar • # 1 priority- Must change competitive advantages/goal mines – example more high tech focus, less blue collar as a % of total • 4 & 2 year educationinstitutions are an important element to IE economic recovery - a more educated population

MSJC Growth… continues The districtservices: • annually 26,000 students • over 17,000per semester Three consecutive AY of double digit: • AY06-07 up 12% • AY 07-08 up 10% • AY08-09 up 14% CAGR(2) for past 10 yrs of 6% (CCC statewide 2%) 10 yrs ending AY 2008-’09 Up 75% (3.8 x statewide of 20%) (1) Compounded annual growth rate, Source: CCCCO.edu, Data Mart, MSJC R &P Dept.   6. MSJCwith higher highs & lower lows than CCC …we have experienced a 3 yr double digit growth trend Headcount MSJC vs. CCC Statewide % Growth *Unduplicated and includes credit and Office Data Mart –MSJC R&PD – XCJH 1.30.9

  7. MSJC in FA’07 exceeded 15k students & FA’08 17k… SU’09 declined due to a decrease in sections

SJC& MVChave both enjoyed considerable grow through SP’09…but by design has soften during SP’10 Estimates: -4% vs. SP’09 2,960 FTES Headcount* 2% vs. SP’09 2,040 FTES *Headcount at 1st Census, headcount maybe multi-campus/ DataTel (MSJC) & Data-Mart (CCCCO) numbers vary. DataTel is a snapshot of enrollment on a given date & does not include non-credit & includes 1st census only. Data Mart is the official CCCCO headcount. I-15 Corridor includes TEC (Temecula Education Complex) & Lake Elsinore (LEUSD) activity. Chaparral H.S. MSJCTransfers to 4-yr Institutions • Transfers to UC & CSU increased by 22% for AY07-08. • Transfers to UCexceeded 100& 380 students transferred to the CSU system. • Approximately 45 to 50% of all MSJC 4-yr institutional transfers are to a UC or CSU, the remaining are transfers to ISP (In-State-Private) & OOS (Out-of-State) institutions.
