TEAM GOALS • Create Student Athletes • Create Leaders • Create a good work ethic • Team Unity • Create Champions • Beat Temecula • Win CIF
TEAM PHILOSOPHY Chaparral Wrestling is committed to developing champions both on and off the mat. We believe champions are often, but not always, the ones who win the matches. A Champion is one who lives by high ideals, knows how to set realistic goals, and how to dedicate themselves towards achieving them. The goal of the program is to make the wrestling experience enjoyable, educational, and enriching! Pursuant to this philosophy, we will expect our athletes, wrestling personnel, and coaches to represent our program and school in an acceptable fashion at all times.
SCHEDULE Season: Begins on November 5th Ends March 5th Practices: Monday-Friday 2:45 to 5:00 pm Check Calendar for practice times during the holiday breaks. Competition: Check Calendar for dates http://www.bigcatwrestlingclub.com/schedule.html
Team Policies • All Practices are Mandatory • Excused absence – coach is informed in writing, ahead of time. • Unexcused absence – coach is not informed, or informed late. • Any athlete that misses practice the day before a competition may not participate in that competition.
Team Policies • Weight Management – Every wrestler will be weight certified by our athletic trainer. The cost is $10 and is mandated by CIF. • Cutting Weight – All athletes must leave practice, the day before a competition, on or below weight. Cutting weight the day of competition greatly affects performance.
Team Policies • Injuries – Coach must be informed first, then the athletic trainer must be seen, and he will recommend a doctor visit. • Injuries/Illness – When a wrestle is too injured or sick to participate in practice they must still attend entire practice.
Skin Infections Please allow 15 minutes at the end of every practice for your wrestler to shower. It is district policy for everyone to shower after every wrestling session. All wrestlers must have a clean towel, antibacterial soap, and clean wrestling gear. We also mop the mats before every wrestling session to help with the prevention of skin infections.
Skin Infections • Ringworm – treat with antifungal cream 3 to 4 times a day. It is not contagious after 72 hours of treatment, but continue to apply cream until it is no longer visible. If on scalp please see a doctor. • Staph Infections/Impetigo/MRSA – You must see a doctor and be prescribed an antibiotic. You may not wrestle until doctor signs a form from CIF. • Please inform coaching staff of any questionable skin condition.
