Welcome to 3rd Grade Curriculum Night. School Hours. School doors will be open at 7:10 a.m. Students are considered tardy if they are not in the classroom by the 7:40 a.m. bell Dismissal time is 2:40 p.m. Early release days dismiss at 11:40 a.m. . Homework.

Homework • 30 minutes a day (Monday – Thursday) • Tic-Tac-Toe Menu Board for Spelling and Math • Extra Reading - read to parents or read to self
Snacks • Third grade has a snack break each morning after Block Class (10:15a.m.) Please send healthy snacks. • Only water bottles allowed in the • classroom. • Please remember that we have several students with tree and peanut allergies.
Class DoJo • Behavior management tool • Positive and negative points • Students earn points to receive rewards • Parents can access student’s report daily
Math • Emphasis on place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, geometry and fractions • Inquiry Based Learning: hands-on manipulatives, interactive activities, student collaboration, and problem solving
Language Arts • Genres - variety of genres, including fantasy, fables, folktales, poetry, and biographies • Inquiry Based Learning - interactive activities, student collaboration, problem solving, Guided Reading, and Reader’s Writer’s Response Journals • Spelling – words will be sent home weekly in their Day Planner (should be signed daily) • Social Studies - has been integrated into the Language Arts program
Science Inquiry Based Learning- hands-on experiments, interactive activities, and student collaboration Science Journal – students are expected to keep a record of their learning in their journals
