Introduction • The senate from state had died. • The governor had to find a new state senate. • Jim Taylor tells governor to pick some one that will do whatever they say so they can have more power. • The governor picks the son of the former senate. • Picks Mr. Smith up from the train station to take his office in Washington D.C. • Mr. Smith wanders off.

  3. Rising action • Mr. smith goes to the capital building • Takes bus back to his office • Mr. smith gets to office and meets his assistant Saunders ( clarissa ) • Saunders takes smith to the reporters where he makes himself look silly. • Gets back to office and decides he wants to propose a bill • Wants to build an all boys camp on willet creek. • Tells Mr. Paine about the bill. • Smith has Saunders help him with the bill. • Submitted bill to the senate • Jim taylor finds out about the bill and tries to stop smith from proceeding with the bill.

  4. Rising Action • Smith starts asking questions • Saunders tells Smith that they are building a dam at willet creek. • Smith gets accused of graft • People try to run Smith out of his job • Jim Taylor tells Mr. Paine to lie and say that Smith has the land already bought and is taking money from kids for his own profit.

  5. Climax • Mr. smith starts a filibuster that lasted a little over 24 hours to explain how he is being accused of graft.

  6. Falling Action • Tells president of the senate how he is innocent. • People start papers. Some saying he is innocent and some saying he is guilty.

  7. Climax • Mr. smith faints from exhaustion • Senator paine comes clean and says that mr.taylor and him had accused him of graft.
