  2. Historical Fact #1 • Construction of Golden Gate bridge began in 1933 . • It opened in May 27, 1937 and in 1994. • It opened twice.

  4. Historical Fact #3 • Brooklyn Bridge opened Thursday May 4, 1883.

  5. Historical Fact #4 • From the 12th – 16th centuries AD, bridges started having houses and shops on them.

  6. Historical Fact #5 • One of the most famous Bridges with houses was the London Bridge which was built between 1176 and 1209.

  8. Historical Fact #7 • The world’s first iron bridge was built for Abraham Darby in 1779. • It has a single span of over 100.

  9. Historical Fact #8 • The oldest existing arch is the Mycenaen Arkadiko bridge in Greece from about 1300B.C.

  10. Historical Fact #9 • The Bosphrus bridge is a gravity suspension bridge with steel plyons and inclined hangers. • The bridge was comepleted on October 30th, 1973.
