Negatives • Calotype process invented by Henry Talbot in 1841 • Used paper treated in silver salt solution. • Dry plate negatives were invented in 1879 • Portable dark rooms were no longer needed. • Handheld cameras could now be created. Kodak • Eastman invented the Kodak camera in 1888. • Considered the first commercial camera • Took 100 photos, then it was sent back to the factory to develop. • Used rolled film. • In 1935, the one of the first successful color films was created, Kodachrome. • Other commercially viable color films followed.
Polaroid • The polaroid camera was created in 1948 • It was capable of developing a picture within minutes of being taken. Digital Cameras • The first digital still camera was created by Canon in 1984.
