  1. Theme Song Assignment Directions • Choose a song to be your “theme song.” • In a Word document, type a 1- to 3-paragraph explanation (double-spaced with a proper MLA heading) into a 5x10 text box: • Brief summary/explanation of the song. • A one-sentence theme statement that identifies the theme. • An explanation of how you see the theme exemplified in and/or demonstrated by society. • An explanation of your experience with the theme and/or how it has played out in your life and/or why it is important to you. • In your document, type the lyrics of your song into a 5x10 text box. Use whatever font, font size, and layout that works for your song. You might also need to cut some lines out (e.g., chorus, repeated lines). • Find an image that correlates with the theme in the song and print it out – must be exactly 5x10 and portrait oriented; can be a photograph, an online image, a drawing, a picture from a magazine, etc. All • “Frame” all three pieces by gluing them on to an 11x17 piece of construction paper, wrapping paper, shelf paper, etc. Leave a ½-inch margin along the outside edge of the paper, as well as ½-inch center margins. All lyrics, song content, and images must be school appropriate! No symbols: w*** or #*%!!. Instead, add a school appropriate [word]. No images with inappropriate parts cut out, covered up, or suggested in any way. Songs that objectify women or men or glorify sex, drugs, smoking, drinking, violence, or criminal behavior of any kind will result in a zero for the assignment AND disciplinary action.
