How much water is used? • 50,000 bbls or 2.1 million gals per well • 0.08% of Colorado’s water use in 2010 • Greeley’s water use for oil and gas was 2% in 2011, they released 36%. • Flowback and produced water can be recycled. • Water not taken out of the water cycle. • CH4 + 2O2 CO2 + 2H2O + Energy • 1 BCF of methane gas yields 11 million gals of water
