  3. Construction • 8 people had already died before the Titanic hit the iceberg. • 1 of which was a 15 year old boy who had fell off a ladder. • A skilled worker was paid £2 and unskilled workers were only paid £1 or less!

  4. Facilities Onboard • There were lots of facilities on The Titanic and these were just some of them. • A heated swimming pool, the Titanic was the first ship to ever have this. • A gymnasium with rowing machine, electric horse and a stationary bicycle.

  5. Maiden Voyage • On the 10th April 1912 at 9:30am the Titanic set sail, over thousands of people came to watch the magnificent ship! • The Titanic was going from Southampton to New York. • Unfortunately that was when disaster struck.

  6. Iceberg Collision • On April 14th (Sunday) seven ice warnings were received during the day. • They received a warning off California telling them that they were stopped and surrounded by ice. • The Titanic travelling at 20.5 knots suddenly looks out and see an iceberg ahead about 500 yards away towering some 55-60 feet above water.

  7. The Sinking • The Titanic took 3 hours to actually sink into the deep blue ocean. • People didn’t start escaping until an hour after being hit by the iceberg. • Traditionally 32 lifeboats were supposed to be held on the Titanic but only 20 were onboard because the White Star Management was concerned that too many boats would sully the aesthetic of the beauty of the ship.

  8. Survivors • One of the oldest survivors of the Titanic was Mrs. Edith Brown Haisman who has now died at the age of 100. • She was 15 when she was placed in lifeboat No. 13 as the Titanic sank. • Her father Thomas Brown stood with a glass of brandy in his hand whilst he waved saying “I will see you in New York!” • Unfortunately he died. • Survived-1,517 • Died-706
