    1. Abergowrie College ASSPA Committee Activity Plan for 2004 Welcome to

We hope that, by viewing this series of slides, you will have a better idea of : The aims of the 2004 Activity program for Parents/carers and students; Who makes up the ASSPA Executive; How the 2004 Program is developed and fits with the 2004 Developmental goals of the College; The individual activities in the Program, and the allocations.

    3. Aims for parents/carers: To continue to assist parents and carers of students at the College to be engaged in the education of their boys through active participation in this parent/carer organization; networking and connecting with other parents and carers; encouraging a sense of ownership of and belonging to the College; regular contact with the College staff;

    4. Aims for parents/carers cont’d greater knowledge of what is happening at the College for their boys; sharing in decision-making about the education and opportunities being offered to this boys; actively participating in real and valued ways in the conduct of the College, it’s ethos, program of activities, and curriculum, and future directions; to enable parents/carers to influence the curriculum and activities provided for their boys

    5. Aims for students To foster, enable and encourage among students: A real experience of their parents/carers being able to be involved in their education; Ownership, celebration and participation in their own cultures; An experience of being able to contribute to decisions made about the quality of education the receive, through student participation in the ASSPA committee;

    6. Aims for students cont’d The development of skills in meeting procedure, participation and decision-making. Leadership development; A desire to continue their education, to remain at school, and to achieve to the best of their ability. Integration of their cultures into their schooling.

    7. Aims for students cont’d Opportunities to consider a wide range of career options – tertiary education for careers, apprenticeships and traineeships, etc. Further development skills and knowledge through which they will be equipped to contribute to their communities and families.
