Special Permit • To establish a closure in the fisheries for the Snapper Unit 2 species after 21 september 2013, as approved by the Caribbean Fishery Management Council as an accountability measure to compensate for the overage reported in 2010-2011.

Special Permit • All fishermen harvesting Snapper Unit 2 species will be required to obtain an authorization from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DNER) to conduct such activities. • This permit will improve the management of this particular fishery by limiting the activity to the traditional participants
Special Permit • Requirements • Commercial License (full time/part-time) • History of landings for the regulated species (~ FiveYears)
Special Permit • Conditions • A maximumof 120 tripsperyear • Monthlyreportingoflandings.
Special Permit • The Marine Fisheries Laboratory will produce a list of the fishermen who has reported multiannual landings for Snapper Unit 2 Species • The Office of Permits, Forestry Licenses, Wildlife and Fisheries will contact the selected fishermen and will notify of the necessary requirements to obtain this permit
Special Permit • DNER will provide this special permit within 30 days after receiving the required information • There is no cost associated to this permit • Landing reports will be collected and the information transferred expeditiously to NMFS
