How does tourism promote sustainable development? • Tourism Provides money for changes to be made in development. It promotes sustainable development because in some areas like in Brazil in the Amazon rainforest, tourists pay lots of money to see nature and pay a lot money to the government to preserve these areas and also become more eco-friendly.
Affects on People • Residents near these areas would benefit in many ways because their land property would probably increase in price and also they have new opportunities of making money because of the rise in tourism. • However, the place will become quite busy and there might be a rise in pollution on the ground, noise pollution and traffic. • However due to idea of sustainable development idea, these side effects could be reduced e.g. bins, awareness to tourism that this is a natural reserve, and better transport into the location like trains which will reduce carbon emissions.
It can also affect the tourists as well in the sense that they will be able to access this location easily and quickly. Even though sustainable development may increase the price for tourists to visit these natural reserves, it will be to reduce everyone’s carbon foot print and it may also make their journey worth while.
Eco-Tourism • Eco Tourism is “the responsible travel to natural areas that conserve the environment and improves the well being of local people. • Aims to.. • Minimise impact. • Increase environmental and Cultural awareness. • Provide positive experience for visitors and locals. • Provide financially towards conservation. • Provide financial benefits to Locals through jobs.
Sustainable Development • “Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”
