  3. The Summer and Winter Olympics are held every 4 years. The Summer and Winter Olympics are held two years apart. The Nordic Games were the beginning of the “modern” Olympic Games. They started in Sweden in 1901. The Olympic Games were stopped from during WW ll. OLYMPIC HISTORY

  6. QUATCHI The three Olympic mascots are Sumi, Miga and Quatchi. Mukmuk is our “electronic” mascot. Quatchi is very shy or timid but he loves to travel with friends. His favourite hobby is photography and loves hockey. His dream is to become a famous goaltender. He loves to try all kinds of food. His favourite colour is chill blue. He comes from the mysterious forests of British Columbia. I’m like Quatchi because we both like hockey. I was on a hockey team last year. My team name was the “Blues”. We beat the “Canucks” 20 to nothing. My best friend Tyler is on the “Canucks” team but not the NHL “Canucks” team. We played. I got a hat-trick. A hat-trick is when you score 3 goals. Quatchi is working hard to be an Olympic goalie someday. His favourite colour is chill blue. When it comes to food Quatchi likes to eat everything. MY "FAV" MASCOT

  7. Have you heard about the mascot called Mukmuk? Mukmuk not an official mascot because he is only seen in cyberspace. Some people tried to have his status changed but the petition failed because they only got 200 signatures. Mukmuk is is not going to get out of cyberspace any time soon! Mukmuk got his name from the Squamish First Nations word, “muckamuck” meaning “food” MukMuk LOVES to eat! He is a Vancouver Island Marmot. Marmots are an endangered species so Mukmuk is trying to make sure the world understands their troubles. Mukmuk Mukmuk Mukmuk

  8. The torch started in Greece where it was lit by the sun at a special ceremony. Then it traveled all over Greece for 8 days before it was given to Canadian officials. They took it by private jet to Victoria, British Columbia. It arrived on October 30. This was the official start of the 2010 Torch Relay. The torch has traveled over 45 000 visiting each of the 10 provinces and 3 territories. It has traveled by canoe, zip-line, surf board, kayak, snowmobile, tractor, dogsled and skateboard. 12 000 Canadians have been torch bearers. The Torch Relay will end in Vancouver BC on February 12, 2010. OLYMPIC TORCH RELAY

  9. The Olympic Inukshuk is a stone marker for the Inuit people in the Arctic. It guides them as they travel. It represents peace, leadership, cooperation and friendship. They used 5 stones to make the mascot each a different colour. The blue and green represents the West Coast islands, mountains and forests. The red represents the Canadian maple leaf. The gold stands for the beautiful sunrises in Vancouver. The smiling face stands for happy people. 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics Logo
