I am just like Miga because we love hot chocolate and we really love fish. My favourite sport is snow boarding. I do not like surfing because I don’t like falling in the deep blue sea! Miga loves sea shells just like me. She loves making new friends because but she is different then the others but…she has friends just like me. The OLYMPIC mascots are Quatchi, Miga and Sumi. MukMuk is our “electronic” mascot. My favourite mascot is Miga. Miga is a young Sea Bear who loves snowboarding. MIga loves surfing too because she comes from Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Miga’s favourite colour is forest green which is my favourite color too. Miga loves making new friends. Her favourite food is hot chocolate and fish. I think the fish she likes is salmon. She loves the deep blue sea. Miga is my favourite animal. OLYMPIC MASCOTS
MUKMUK Have you heard about Olympic mascots having a sidekick? Well the 2010 Olympic mascots, Miga, Sumi and Quatchi have a sidekick called Mukmuk! Mukmuk is a young, but friendly mascot. He eats and eats all day. Did you know that Mukmuk got his name from the Squmish First Nations word, “MuckaMuck”? MukMuk loves meeting new friends even though he is an electronic mascot. Mukmuk is mostly seen on cyberspace. Mukmuk is a Vancouver Island marmot. Marmots are an endangered species. Mukmuk cheers loudly for his friends. Mukmuk always sunbathes on sunny days. Also in the winter days Mukmuk hibernates just like the other marmots. Mukmuk supports his friends. Mukmuk really wants to be a Olympic games mascot. Some people tried to get him official Olympic status as a mascot but the petition failed. Its time for Mukmuk to go to the Olympic games!
The first Olympic torch relay started in 1936. The Olympic flame traveled from Greece to Victoria BC in October, 2009. When it reached Victoria the Official Olympic Relay started. The Olympic torch was lit by the rays of the sun. The torch means peace and friendship. OLYMPIC TORCH RELAY
The Olympic Logo stands for peace, friendship, cooperation , and leadership. The Inukshuk is used as a marker for people traveling in the Arctic. The Inukshuk guides the Inuit through the windy snow. The Olympic Inukshuk mascot is named “Ilanaaq” which means friend in the native Inuit Inukitut language. 2010 VANCOUVER WINTER OLYMPIC LOGO
