SITUATIONER – Region 8 * Displaced families = poor families with partially/totally damaged houses and in need of assistance. This is based on the NHTS-PR listing of DSWD with additional 28% for Leyte, Eastern Samar, and Ormoc City to cover for migrant workers. ** 42 towns including Baybay City and OrmocCity but excluding Tacloban City *** 13 affected towns in Eastern Samar

“BIGAS BRIGADE” Started on 14 November 2013. One truck per town per day with: • 6o sacks of rice • 20 boxes of canned goods (48 pcs / box) • 10 boxes of High Energy Biscuits (100 pcs / box) • 450 liters of water

EARLY RECOVERY PLAN • To provide food packs to 275,000 affected families of Region 8. A food pack is good for 8 days for a family of 5 with estimated cost of P1,250 per pack. • 25 kg of rice • 500 g of daing • 500 g of monggo • 200 g of misua / pancit • 2 kg of oil • 500 g of salt • 32 pcs of coffee
EARLY RECOVERY PLAN • Tacloban, Catbalogan and Isabel hubs as repacking centers due to their accessibility and capacity to mobilize volunteers. • NFA rice is available in Tacloban (about 30,000 sacks) and in Catbalogan (63,000 sacks). • Isabel will be supplied by NFA rice coming from Cagayan de Oro and General Santos City. The World Food Programme will donate 10,000 metric tons of rice to augment the rice requirement of the relief operations.
EARLY RECOVERY PLAN • The PhilPhos warehouse in Isabel will be used as repacking area. PhilPhos also offered their 1,000 employees to help repack food packs. • WFP will also provide logistical support in transporting food packs to the different municipalities including RORO ship to ferry canned goods from Cebu and Mindanao to the hubs. • Local Government units trucks including military assets will continue to support the delivery of relief goods.
CASH-FOR-WORK *100% of the regional minimum daily wage rate will be used instead of 75%
