Directions • You will write a reply to an e-mail message. You have 15 minutes to read the message and write your reply. Your reply should include a greeting and a closing and should respond to all the questions and requests in the message. In your reply, you should also ask for more details about something mentioned in the message. Also, you should use a formal form of address.
Strategies • Underline key words, terms, AND questions to answer. • Use Vous consistently • Use inversion when asking questions to be more formal. • If possible, use a different greeting and closing from the original email. • If you recognize references to a particular francophone culture or see an opportunity to share your knowledge, share your understanding, make a comparison, etc. • Use transitions. • Answer ALL questions and ASK a question • Keep track of time!!!! Don’t write too much and not finish. It is better to write a shorter email that includes everything than a long email that you leave unfinished.
