Expectations and Code of Conduct • ALL ambassadors have signed and returned the Code of Conduct to participate in the ambassador program • Actions and behaviors are a reflection of the National Teach Ag Campaign • Professionalism • Personal conduct • Social media • Timeliness • Make sure to meet ALL DEADLINES by the due date
Brief Teach Ag Background • Started in 2009 • Initiative of the National Council for Agricultural Education (The Council) • Managed by National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) • Sponsor-funded through the National FFA Foundation • CHS Foundation (since 2011) • CortevaAgriscience™ Agriculture Division of DowDuPont™ (2014) • Growth Energy (2014) • BASF (2017) • Mission • Raise awareness of the need to recruit and retain high quality and diverse agriculture teachers • Encourage others to teach agriculture • Celebrate the positive contributions that agriculture teachers make in their schools and communities
National Teach Ag DaySeptember 19th • Post on social media #tagged19 • Engage in the webcast • Encourage others to celebrate • Speak at a local high school • Collegiate Opportunities • Live webcast will be at the BASF headquarters in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina • Video Contest • Future Agriculture Teacher Symposium • Host a live watch party & post on social media • Tag Yourself or Someone Else to TEACH AG!
National FFA Convention • October 27- November 1, 2019 • Expectations and Responsibilities • Timely, professional behavior • Develop cohort of current and future agriculture teachers through campaign sign-ups • Networking with current ag teachers, future ag teachers, sponsors
National FFA Convention • Sunday – ambassador training begins at 3pm EDT • Monday – professional development opportunity • Tuesday – unload trailer and set-up Teach Ag booth, NAAE booth, CASE booth and any NAAE professional development workshop rooms…AND SO MUCH MORE!!!! • Wednesday – Teach Ag booth 12pm-5pm • Thursday – Teach Ag booth 8am-5pm** • Friday – Teach Ag booth 8am-3pm** • Booth teardown/load up/debrief(usually done by 6pm, so it is ok to book your flight home Friday night after 6pm) • Free to leave after booth is loaded up **Each ambassador will receive a 2-hour break.
National FFA Convention • Travel • Full reimbursement • Food • Reimburse up to $45/day • Hotel • Room booked by Teach Ag Campaign • Parking available at hotel (daily fee) and at In Field at Fair grounds (free parking passes) • No shuttle available from airport to hotel (cab, Uber, etc.) • Within walking distance to convention center – do not need to drive • Ambassadors will submit travel voucher after NFFA Convention to Andrea in order to receive reimbursement for expenses.
National Teach Ag Campaign Presentations • Highlight need for agriculture teachers and impacts of shortage • Highlight resources available from the NTAC • Games (Play one for a few minutes) • Grow Your Own Ag Teacher Tool Kit • Direct participants to the Teach Ag website • Encourage them to get involved at the state/local level • Good handouts… • Teach Ag Resources One Pager • Supply/Demand Profile (National or Regionally specific) • Posters • Sign-Up Form (collect and mail to NAAE Office or scan and email to Andrea)
National Teach Ag Campaign Presentations • Can conduct up to 4 presentations/workshops with reimbursement • November 2, 2019 – November 2, 2020 • $50 stipend for each presentation/workshop that meets criteria • High School programs and college programs • Must receive prior approval from Andrea Fristoe • Submit agenda at least ONE WEEK in advance • Participants must be at least 15 years old • Turn in summary report via email to Andrea with 2 photos within 14 days of the presentation to receive stipend
Quarterly Cohort Group Emails • 4 Total Emails • Sent out to cohort groups developed at NFFA Convention • December 2019 • Happy Holidays! Include a picture of ag ed club holiday celebration or activity and 2-4 sentences about your ag ed program/description of the ag ed club holiday celebration. • April 2020 • Leadership opportunities in ag education – talk about ambassador program and leadership opportunities at your university and other organizations. • August 2020 • Celebrate National Teach Ag Day! – How will you be celebrating and what kinds of things can high school students do to celebrate their future careers? • October 2020 • Celebrate National FFA Convention! Include a picture from 2019 NFFA Convention with 2-4 sentences about the influence ag teachers have on their students.
STAR States • 38 states in the program • Work with STAR state committees to address ag teacher recruitment strategies (if applicable) • STAR states without an ambassador may reach out for assistance for webinars, conference calls, etc.
Due by May 31st • Doodle Poll response for July training date/time • Andrea will send link in follow-up email • Name and University as you would like it to appear on your apparel • Email address you would like included on business card • Shirt sizes (women’s sizing when possible for females) • Emergency Contact Information for NFFA Convention • Name, Relation, Phone Number • Personalized #hashtag for use during NFFA Convention & throughout year on social media • Ambassador Bio Page on blog • Include answers to bio questions (will be in follow-up email) • Professional headshot • More info to come
