  2. Why do jobs leave Michigan? • Goods (like automobiles) are being produced elsewhere. • These goods are selling well in the United States and worldwide.

  3. Why produce elsewhere? • Avoid rules about work, set by unions • Avoid taxes and rules about work and pollution, set by the government • Want people around the world to buy cars • Don’t want to ship cars around the world • And want people to have jobs so they can buy cars • So move factories closer to these new markets

  4.
