Why? • IT better enables you to hold a balanced and well informed DISCUSSION within your essay • It enables you to demonstrate analysis and evaluation • It allows you to consider and appreciate other peoples views
Acknowledging the Ideas of Others • You must always acknowledge in your work where you have used someone else's ideas • This is done using REFERENCING • If this is not done it is called ‘PLAGERISM’
Quality of Literature • Literature used to inform your work should be of good academic quality: • Textbooks • Original Research papers • Reports – government/scientific/large associations • Theses • Magazine/newspaper articles • Internet sources • TV/Radio broadcasts • Lecture/conference notes
