  1. 8G and H Environment Project. Blog and Research Requirements

  2. Tasks • A response to the film Home. What was the film about? What were the issues covered? What questions did it raise for you? • The completed graph from the last slide of the sustainability power point found on the home page of the wiki. Include an explanation of the choices you have made. • A response to the film – The Story of Stuff. What were the issues? What questions did it raise? What solutions were offered? • A response to either The story of Cosmetics, Bottled water or Electronics, found at the top of the Year 8 Science Moodle page. What issues/problems were raised in the film? What examples of data were used? What solutions were offered? • An investigation of one of the links for green buildings. What ideas could be incorporated into Camberwell High School.

  3. Beginning work in groups • Move into your groups. These are listed in the Environment Wiki under Student Group Wikis. • Decide on a Wiki administrator. • Create your Wiki • Send blog addresses to Wiki Adminstrator. • Put Blog address on Wiki. • Send Wiki address to NC or JN so that it can be added to the Year 8 Environment Wiki. • Next individually read the article from the Boroondara Leader. Linked to Environment Wiki Boroondara Activity Centre Map (from the Progress Leader) • Using butchers paper create a concept map that outlines the issues facing Boroondara and the key areas that will require improvement. These might include transport, waste management and so on. • Present your diagram to the group.

  4. Your Research • In your groups decide which of the areas each group member will focus on. These are listed under Team Research project on the main environment Wiki. • The library will take you through a process that will help you develop your questions. • All your research must be included on your blog and a reference list must be provided.

  5. Your Film • Films will be presented to parents in Week 10 of this term. • Your film must have input from all group members. You might like to focus on an idea that combines all of your areas of research. For example a film about resource management might deal with: Waste, water and energy. • Remember that any film is a construct consisting of elements of sound and vision – consider ways to incorporate a number of filmic elements into your own production.

  6. Your Film - Process • In groups come up with your idea for your film. Discuss this with your teacher. • Create your story board. The site below may be useful but their are plenty of other sites that can be easily found. • http://accad.osu.edu/womenandtech/Storyboard%20Resource/ • When finished discuss your storyboard with your teacher. • You can then borrow a camera from the technology office. • You need to be aware that because much of the film will need to be completed out of class time coordinating when all group member can get together will be an important part of your discussions.
