  5. VISION AND PHILOSOPHY • -Empowering Students: In middle school we work with students…”it’s the student’s job.” • -Independent: Teaching student how to appropriately advocate for themselves. • -Responsible: Giving students the opportunity to make decisions and then holding them accountable/responsible. • We honor all of our students choices.

  6. ELIGIBILITY • Two D’s or 1 F. • -Run and done! • -Attendance and behavior “In good standing.” • -At school 75% of the time on game days. • -Zap may not be skipped for games, meets or practice.

  7. TEAM ASSIGNMENTS • -Very similar to how we “Levelize” in the classroom. • They should practice/play at the level that best fits their need. • Let them enjoy the game and learn the game. • Let them play/practice at a pace that allows them to learn. • Team assignment is not a status symbol. • -It does not reflect good or bad on the student or parent.

  8. -This is about giving the students the chance to successfully experience athletics. • This is not about creating D-1 Scholarship bound middle schoolers. • We are trying to develop players throughout the program and improve on their skills and abilities.

  9. PLAYING TIME • -Some items that impact playing time but are not limited to: • Attitude and effort during school and/or practice. • Timeliness and attendance at school and/or practice. • -The level of team placement: the higher the level, the more player ability impacts decisions. • At the younger levels, the coaches do try to play the kids the same amount. • At the A team level, at times decisions are game based as well.
