Project Plan Reverse Engineering of a Radio Control Race Car Team The C.O.R.E Presenters:MoemenTaha Omar Al-Ameri The Petroleum Institute Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Outline • Introduction • Background Information • Project Statement • Engineering Methodology • Key Milestones • Gantt Chart • Total Cost and Budget • Conclusion
Introduction • The project is about enhancing the radio controlled race car through improving its aerodynamics. • This presentation will give an outline of the total project including the key milestones and the total budget
Background Information • The RCRC: • First RC motor was built in the 1940’s. • RC car racing began in the 1960's as a hobby. • In the 1970s several U.S. remote-controlled car companies started manufacturing RC cars commercially. • Competitions began by 1979. • The Aerodynamics: • Started in the 17th century and still being studied up till today. • 4 forces : • Drag • Thrust • Lift • Weight
Project Statement After gaining knowledge of new aspects, it is now possible to develop a project plan to reverse engineer the radio control car: The project statement is as follows: • Gain better understanding of aerodynamics and implement what was learnt. • Achieving the highest outcome possible from the team members. • Improving our hand skills and performing what was learnt in to reality.
Engineering Methodology • Pre-dissection process: Background information from various sources. • Dissection process: • Disassembling a sample RCRC to get the idea of how it works. • Investigate any potential improvements. • Evaluation of the improvements suggested and creating several conceptual designs. • Prepare a detailed descriptions of the final chosen design including the materials, dimensions, weight and cost. • Building the final design prototype. • Usage of Ms Project.
Conclusion • The C.O.R.E team have achieved the desired goals in the pre-dissection analysis. • The project will cost approximately 67,000 AED. • Waiting for client’s approval to start executing the project.
