Class Rules. Everyone is to stay in their assigned seat during class. Food, drinks, and gum are not to be consumed in the computer lab. Not ever. No Headphones. No music unless it’s part of your assignment for this class. Stay on task. You’ll learn more if you concentrate on learning.

  1. Class Rules • Everyone is to stay in their assigned seat during class. • Food, drinks, and gum are not to be consumed in the computer lab. Not ever. • No Headphones. No music unless it’s part of your assignment for this class. • Stay on task. You’ll learn more if you concentrate on learning. • If you have a question or need assistance please raise your hand.

  2. Class Rules • Respect, respect, respect. • Keep your language and actions appropriate for the classroom. • Internet and network use policies are to be observed and will be enforced.

  3. Class Rules • The purpose of the computers to so you can learn the curriculum covered in this course. No outside software is allowed. • No Games • Did I say No Headphones? • No Music • Penalties may include write-ups, calls home, getting locked out of your account and detention.

  4. Class Rules Keep in mind that these computers are monitored remotely. I get in trouble if I don’t enforce the rules! Don’t ask for second chances or special consideration.

  5. Class Rules • Restroom Use is to Occur During Lunch or Between Classes. • Maximum of one pass per report period per student. • Medical Situations Require a Doctor’s Note Which Must be Filed with the School Nurse. • Too Many Classes to Allow Students Out to Roam the Halls.

  6. Grading • 75% From the exercises • 15% Tests • 10% Participation/Attendance • Limited Homework! • Extra Credit Available • After School Help Available

  7. Check Your Grades • Off of Mr. Specter’s Web Page. • www.mrspecter.com • Will move to the school web site when access becomes available • Graded work returned to your folder. • Open Assignments (Other than tests) can be fixed for credit for a limited time.

  8. Check Your Grade On Line • In most cases that will be your report card grade. • There are exceptions.

  9. Rounding • If your grade ends in .5 or higher it is rounded up. • Example: 89.5 gets rounded to a 90. • 89.4 is reported as an 89. • Highest Grade is 100.

  10. Grades may be adjusted • Students who have an IEP • ESL Students. • Others as required by SV Policy, State or Federal Law. • Students who are caught cheating may be dropped to a maximum of a 59 for that reporting period. At the very least you will each get a “0” for the assignment.

  11. Computers Course Content • This is an overview course of the classes we offer at Steel Valley • Every section is drawn from a computer class we offer • This is a new course and will be developed as we go.

  12. Policy on Cheating • No Warnings! • Calls Home. • “0’s” on assignments. • You may be referred to a principal. • Students who aren’t passing may get other punishments. • Don’t do it! • You work too hard to throw it away.

  13. Policy on Cheating cont. • You may give another student instruction on in-class assignments, but not tests. (For extra credit, with permission). • You may not do provide finished work for another student. Both the giver and receiver get the same punishment. • You may not give another student access to your account or access another student’s account. • You may be locked out of access to your folder.

  14. Class Cuts If you cut my class you will be written up. You will receive a “0” for the current assignment. You will not be allowed to make up the work you missed. If you need to be in another teacher’s class during my class time certain criterion must be met. See me for details.

  15. If you have a Question or Problem • Raise your hand. • I will get to you as soon as I can. • If you call out I will delay getting to you. (It’s rude!) • Understand that there are other things going on that you may be unaware of.
