Launch: • - Launch is scheduled for August 2, 2003 at 8:00 AM • - Launch will be in Deer Trail, Colorado • - Launch Readiness Review will be August 1, 2003 in Boulder, Colorado • - Check for final launch NO/GO status at 303-492-4750 after 9:00 PM on August 1, 2003 for final launch status • Be ready to leave Boulder at 5:30 AM

  3. Where?: - Deer Trail, Colorado (76 Miles from Boulder) - Highway 36 East - I-25 South - I-70 East - Exit 328

  4. Launch Day: Getting There

  5. Where?: - Drive west into town - Left on 3rd Ave - High School Football Field - Aspen and 3rd Ave

  6. Launch Site: - Dress warm - Access to High School for facilities - Limited access to power - 6:30 Arrive at launch site - 6:35 Breakfast is served - 6:50 Breakfast is over - 6:50 to 7:00 Time with BalloonSat - 7:00 Report to launch crew location - 7:00 to 7:40 Work with launch teams - 8:00 Launch - 8:05 Chase begins, report to assigned van

  7. Launch: - Site in eastern Colorado (Deer Trail) - Liftoff is 8:00 AM - 90 minutes up, 45 minutes down

  8. Launch: Supported by EOSS - 1200 g latex balloon - Gaseous Helium (~2 K bottles) - Balloon filling system - Flight string - Radio Transceiver - GPS - Control Systems - Parachute - FAA notification

  10. Recovery: - Make sure you bring the following: - Pants - Good shoes, no sandals - Sun Block - Hat - Light Jacket or wind breaker - Sun Glasses - Relieve yourself before launch, no time after launch - Don’t drink too much on the ride

Recovery: • Chase should be over no later than 2:00 PM • Chase will be as follows: • Each car will be provided a radios to communicate with our lead chase car and a detailed map • Please stay with your assigned car number • 3 cars will have complete tracking system including GPS and real-time telemetry from balloon • HW #18 Due today • Sign in sheet • Survey about launch

Chase Team: If you are driving yourself… - Arrive fully fueled and ready to go - Gas Station at exit of in town, not sure on hours - Cars must be in good shape and suitable for highway driving as well as various terrains - Recommend sticking with vans - Will be more fun - Speeds can get high…

Recovery: - Be prepared for a hike - Wait for permission before entering landing site - Rural Coloradoans are “packin heat” - When reaching actual landing site, please wait for everyone to have a chance to see landing orientation before handling hardware - Don’t wander to far from landing site

  18. Recovery: - Mission Recap dinner evening of launch in Boulder. - Each Mission Team will have a chance to present initial results - Final reports due 09-29-03
