  5. What is Mission Action Planning?

  6. Chew and Ireland: A Mission Action Plan is a document which outlines the mission activities that a local church is going to do in the coming months and year. It is built on a clear sense of God’s vision for the church – what God is calling the church to be and to do. So a MAP provides exactly what it says on the tin – an action plan for mission.

  7. A MAP makes sure the life and work of a church is; • Purposeful – doing what you are convinced is needed • Developing – always improving how you do these things • Focussed – not distracted by less important things

Mission Action Planning 5 Marks of Mission To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom To teach, baptise and nurture new believers To respond to human need by loving service To seek to transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and to pursue peace and reconciliation To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth

  13. MissionAction Planning Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, saying, ‘This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.’ (Luke 14:28-30)

Give us enthusiasm in our faith, and wisdom in sharing it with young and old. Open our eyes to new opportunities, our lips to sing and speak of you, and our hearts to welcome the stranger. Grow your kingdom in us and in the world, through the intercession of our Lord Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
