Classroom Expectations My goal is to create a classroom where students want to learn, are willing to take chances, and are able to challenge themselves • Positive reinforcement: • Clip Chart (rewards, consequences) • Respect, Integrity, Responsibility • RIR cards – lunch with principal • Assemblies
Attendance • Regular, on-time attendance is important! If your child is ill, please call our absence line • I will place missed work and a timeline in your child’s mailbox so he/she can makeit up Absence Line: (949) 936-5701
3rd Grade Academics • Language Arts • Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking • Spelling/Grammar/Vocabulary • Math • All basic facts: Addition/Subtraction (1-20) Multiplication/Division (1-10) • Science • Structures of Life; Sun, Moon and Stars; Matter/Energy • Social Studies • CA Geography; Citizenship; OC History
Homework Homework is an essential part of developing time management skills, responsibility, and good study and work habits. It provides an opportunity to reinforce new learning • Daily Homework • Posted on class website! • Students will write in their Planners – Parent Signatures required • Language Arts: Read for a minimum of 20 minutes/night; reading log; book reports (more information to follow) • Spelling: Weekly word list (pre-test Monday, test Friday); Menu • Math: Two-sided Homework and Remembering page each night • Social Studies/Science: DG; Various assignments and projects • Reading log and DG are due EVERY Friday! • Homework Completion • Due by date assigned • Students with incomplete homework will attend lunch clinic
Grading • I grade most assignments numerically based on percentages. The approximate letter grade equivalent for the percentages are noted below: • A or + = 90-100 • B or √+ = 80-89 • C or √ =70-79 • D or √- =60-69 (Parent Signature Required) • F or - =59-0 (Parent Signature Required) • Rubric scores will also be used to evaluate writing and, on occasion, other curricular subject areas

Weekly Schedule • Music • Every other Tuesday: 8:20-9:00 a.m. • P.E. • Days TBA; Wear appropriate attire • Computer/Library • Computers 2X per week • Library on Wednesdays: 3 books are checked out/returned weekly • Eastshore Spirit Day • Every Friday!
