Students will research the various countries in Africa to familiarize themselves with the cultural, economic, political, and geographical impact that Africa has throughout the world.Each student will be required to pick a country and answer the following research questions in complete sentences and to display their information on a quilt square.Quilting is a major art form in Africa. The students will make a quilt square that represents their country in a positive manner. The student will be responsible for bringing in materials that represent his/her country to make a quilt patch for that country.

  3. Each student will research all of the information listed on the following pages and turn the answers in for a daily grade. Then the student will make an individual quilt square that will include:1. A flag2. A map3. Cloth4. 8 of the items listed on the following pages.The quilt square will be judged on creativity as well as accurate information.

  4. The quilt square will be on 11 x 14 paper. Students must bring in material cloth that represents the African country that he/she researched. The quilt square must include:1. Flag: Must explain what the flag symbols and colors represent (10 points) and must be included on the quilt squares.2. Name of the country and capitol of the country (5 points)3. Favorite food/recipe (5 points) 4. Population of the country (5 points) 5. Climate of the country (5 points) 6. Geographical (landscape) of the country (5 points)
