Whoa. • 45: Caesar wins Second Civil War, becomes “dictator for life” • 44: Caesar assassinated by Brutus and other patrician senators • 44: Third Civil War (Octavian & Antony vs. Brutus and Senators) • 42: Octavian & Antony win war, divide the empire • 41: Antony meets Cleopatra. Whoa. • 32: Octavian & Antony turn on each other, begin Fourth Civil War • 30: Octavian wins Fourth Civil War, Antony & Cleopatra commit suicide • 27: Official end of the Republic. Octavian changes name to Augustus Caesar and becomes sole ruler of Rome
