Massachusetts Bay Colony - 1629 • Settled by the PURITANS • Wanted to avoid religious persecution • Wanted to REFORM, or purify, the Church of England. They did not want to totally separate from it.
Pennsylvania - 1670 • Settled by the QUAKERS • Wanted to have freedom to practice their faith without interference
