Flexible Spending Accounts Health Care Spending Accounts • You may elect up to $4000 for health care spending • Some OTC purchases require prescription from physician and claims submitted via claims form (i.e. allergy & sinus, pain relief and baby rash ointments) • Other OTC purchases do not require prescriptions and can be purchased with the debit card: (i.e. bandages, contact lens solution, insulin and diabetic supplies) Dependent Care Spending Accounts • You may defer up to $2500 per year to pay for expenses • If you are married and file jointly on tax returns, you may defer $5000 per year • Claims must be submitted via reimbursement forms only Other: • FSA elections require enrollment form. Forms are available on the ADP website or from your HR department
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was passed by Congress in March of 2010. The Act creates changes in health care for years to come. Some changes take place within one year of enactment, but the time line for change extends to the year 2018. Many of the mandates in the Act have not yet been defined by the Department of Labor. A grandfathered plan is a health plan that was in effect when health care reform was enacted. Grandfathered plans are exempt from some, but not all, health care reform requirements. Plan amendments required for All Plans after September 23, 2010 include: Removal of life time limits on most benefits Removal of annual dollar maximums on some benefits Dependent children are eligible for coverage until the 26th birthday regardless of marital, tax or student status Group health plans may not impose pre-existing condition exclusions Flexible Spending Account contributions for medical expenses will be limited to $2500 annually by year 2013.
