The Governorate Coordinator for Tuberculosis (GCT) represents the technical authority of theDirector-General for Chest Diseases in the field of tuberculosis control
He/she is therefore responsible for the supervision of the implementation of the National Tuberculosis Programme (NTP) at Governorate level and provide feedback to staff so that they can improve their tasks The GCT has to :
1-supervise the health facilities mplementing tuberculosis control • case detection • treatment and case holding • patient recording system • reporting system
drug supply • laboratory activities (. Organization of quality control on direct-smear microscopy) • radiography activities • staffing needs • supplies (laboratory chemicals; stationary for recording and reporting ect.
2-report on activities and results: • collection and correction of hospital and clinic reports • analysis and interpretation of these reports • displacement of the reports to the authorities • preparation of the annual report2-
3-coordinate NTP activities in the governorate: • at the level of the Health Directorate: • meetings with the Governorate Tuberculosis Committee • at the level of the Governorate chest facilities: • coordination meetings with directors of chest hospitals and clinics • coordination meetings with social workers of chest hospitals and clinics
4-cooperate with other governorates and with the national level preparation for and participation in coordination meetings at national level
5-plan activities • plan supervisory visits to chest facilities according to priorities identified • make an annual Work plan, including • drug supply • staffing needs • training needs • renovation • equipment in need for repair or replacement 6-participate in conferences and training activities organized by the NTP
