Worksite Sector The WorksiteSector includes places of employment, such as private offices, restaurants, retail establishments, and government offices
COMMUNITY HEALTH ASSESSMENT AND GROUP EVALUATION • Identify worksite strengths and areas for improvement • Define improvement areas to guide the worksite towards strategies that create a healthier work environment • increased physical activity • improved nutrition • reduced tobacco use and exposure, and • chronic disease management • Offers suggestions and examples of policy, systems, and environmental change strategies • Provides feedback to worksites as they institute local-level change for healthy living

Definitions • Policy: laws, regulations and rules adopted on a collective basis to guide individual and group behavior. Examples: • Tobacco-free workplace policies • Physical activity breaks during meetings • Standardized food purchasing and preparation practices
Definitions • Environment: the physical, social or economic surroundings which influence individuals’ attitudes and behaviors. Examples: • Vending machine options (physical) • Insurance incentives for participation in smoking cessation programs (economic) • Designated bike-to-work days (social) • Attractive stairwells (physical and social)
Five Point Policy Assessment Scale 1 - Not identified as a problem; no policy or environmental elements in place. 2 - Problem has been identified/gaining agenda status; few environmental elements in place. 3 - Policy is being developed & adopted; some environmental elements in place. 4 - A policy has been implemented; most environmental elements in place. 5 – Policy evaluation and enforcement in place; all environmental elements are in place 99 – Not Applicable
