1.) Preamble– We the people…Popular Sovereignty. • We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. • 2.) State of the Union – the President applauds his accomplishments, the accomplishments of Congress, and sets out an agenda for the next year. • 3.) Apportionment– the redistribution of the 435 House seats following the census. • Redistricting – the redrawing of the Congressional district lines following apportionment.

The House of Representatives is considered the “lower” of the two Congressional “houses.” One needs to be 25 years old to become a member of the House, have at least 7 years of citizenship, and a resident of the state they are chosen to represent. For the Senate, one needs to be at least 30 years old, be a US Senator at least 9 years prior to the election, and be a resident of the state you choose to represent.
8.) Members of the House of Representatives have smaller constituencies (own districts) while Senators represent the entire state which means they have larger constituencies.
