Location • The tribes of the Northwest Coast lived in the forests close to the sea. • They hunted in the forests and fished in the oceans and rivers. • The Northwest climate is cool and wet, so the growing season is short. Tribes • The Chinooks and the Makahs were two tribes that lived along Northwest Coast of North America. • Chief Comcomly was a Chinook chief that welcomed Lewis and Clark at the end of their expedition. • The Chinook Indians lived at the mouth of the Columbia River. http://users.hol.gr/~oixalia/indian10.jpg Created by J.   5. Food • The Makahs were whale hunters. • They ate whale meat and skin. • The Makahs also ate plenty of fish, especially salmon. • The Chinooks’ ate many kinds of fish too.
