  3. INTERACTION • solitary- plays alone with different toys than other children near by; no effort to involve other children

  4. INTERACTION • on-looker – watches other children; may talk to other children

  5. INTERACTION • parallel -plays alone but with same toys as children nearby; beside rather than with other children

  6. INTERACTION • associative- two or more children are interacting by borrowing and lending play materials; there is not real organization to the play activity

  7. INTERACTION • cooperative -play is goal oriented; formal games; rules; specific roles

  8. AREA OF DEVELOPMENT • physical_- small and large motor skills, eye-hand coordination

  9. AREA OF DEVELOPMENT • intellectual – language, problem solving, reasoning, logical thinking

  10. AREA OF DEVELOPMENT • emotional – empathy, expressing emotions appropriately

  11. AREA OF DEVELOPMENT • social – respectful behavior, cooperation, conflict resolution, roles

  12. AREA OF DEVELOPMENT • moral – right and wrong, following rules, values, fairness

  13. ACTIVITY TYPE • Active – use of large motor skills • Examples: running, climbing, bike, jumping, sports, games)

  14. ACTIVITY TYPE • Quiet - use small motor skills, focuses on thinking • Examples: manipulatives, books, water table, sand box, board games__

  15. ACTIVITY TYPE • Creative – make something new, open-ended, flexible, decided by child • Examples: _pretend, dramatic, imitation, music, art, symbolic

  16. ACTIVITY TYPE • Exploratory – discovery through experiences using senses • Examples: scientific experiences, food experiences, manipulatives, sensory
