How to request a transcript to be sent: 1) On Naviance under the “colleges” tab click “Colleges I’m Applying To”
4) Under “which college are you applying to” search for your college. Make sure to indicate regular decision, early action, or early decision. Additionally indicate if you are applying through the common app or directly to the institution. • 5) Click on “add and request transcript”
6) Click “initial” for the type of transcript you are requesting. Then click “request and finish”.

For all Common App schools:Connecting your Common App with Naviance • In order to link your Common App account to Naviance you need to set up your Common Application account and choose a user name and password. • You must complete the “FERPA” notice on the Common Application in the “Recommenders” section by checking “Yes, I waive my rights to access…” . This is in the letters of recommendation section of the Common App. • Go to Naviance and under the “colleges” tab click on “colleges I’m applying to”. Enter your Common Application email address in order to match your Common Application Account with your Naviance account.
Letter of Recommendation Process: Important first steps before logging onto Naviance: • Pick up a letter of recommendation request form from the counseling office and fill out the form. • THERE ARE THREE SEPARATE FORMS, ONE FOR YOUR TEACHERS, ONE FOR YOUR COUNSELOR, and one for an outside recommender, if you are using someone outside of DSA! • Go to your teacher/counselor in person and ask if they would write you a letter of recommendation. Hand them a copy of the form and thank them!Make sure you are asking a month in advance of when your letter is due!
Choosing Teachers • There were a few changes to Common App this year regarding teacher recommendations: • Select only 2-3 teachers. You will not need more than that. • CU Succeed teachers will email your counselor a copy of their letter and we upload it for them. • Outside of DSA- Have your recommender email a copy of your letter to your counselor so we can upload the letter to Naviance.
4) On Naviance under the “colleges” tab, click “Apply to College” and scroll down.
5) Under “Letter of Recommendation” click “Add requests”. Choose a teacher from the dropdown list. You can choose up to three teachers to send a request to. You may also choose different teachers for different colleges.
6) Enter a personal note stating when your letter is due to the college, what colleges you are using their letter for, and any special instructions. 7) Click “Submit Requests” to complete the request. An email will be sent to your teacher notifying them of your request.
Important things to note: • For Common App Users:The counselor/teacher will fill out these evaluation forms on Naviance and they will be submitted with all your other additional application materials (transcript, etc.) through Naviance. You will NOT enter the emails for teachers in the Common App
