U.S. Oil and Refining • What happened: • 25 gal discharge into Blair Waterway at US Oil & Refining Co. facility in Tacoma • Bleeder valve partially open • RP setup ICS and hired MSRC • Significance: • 1050 gal discharge initial reported • Effectiveness of ICS organization
BNSF Derailment • What happened: • Two trains sideswiped • 4 tank car with 16,000 gal of NaOH • One tank car leaked onto the beach • BNSF hired NRCES • Significance: • 64,000 gal potential • In the tidal zone • Hazardous substance • Effectiveness of ICS organization
