OHIO FACTS & FIGURES With over 50% (53,000 km²) of Ohio being prime farmland the state of Ohio continues to have a strong agricultural (and horticultural) tradition. • Agriculture is the biggest industry in Ohio (contributing $67 billion to Ohio’s budget) • Within in the U.S. Ohio is ranked 1st in egg production, 2nd in tomato processing, 3rd in pig production and 4th in soybeans, sweet corn and cucumbers • Ohio is ranked as the 5th largest producer of floriculture crops in the world • Ohio has a small but emerging wine industry
OSU FACTS AND FIGURES • Founded in 1870, The Ohio State University has over 130 years of experience in teaching agriculture and horticulture. Main campus 1700 acres. Total enrolment 50,000 students. 32,000 Faculty & Staff. 1800 Students in CFAES. 1000 Students at ATI. 17 Majors offered in CFAES.
THE OHIO PROGRAM It’s our full-time job to arrange international internships for young agriculturalists and horticulturalists. In existence for 25 years we have assisted over 6,500 individuals gain practical training in their chosen career field. Established partnerships with many colleges and universities around the world.
