Welcome Denali Families! • Denali is one of 9 teams at Icenhower Intermediate school named after places or things related to Alaska! • LaWenda Drumgoole– Science • Lauren Hermann– Social Studies • Sunny Clay–Language Arts • Michael Patterson– Math • Larissa Shells-Co-teacher Math • Toni Fruge- Co-teacher Language Arts

  3. Science • State Topics: Matter and Energy, Force and Motion, Earth and Space, Organisms and the Environment • Weekly Vocabulary Test (every Friday) • Vocabulary Folder Homework and resources on Stemscopes ( Accelerated Learning)

  4. Scientific Interactive Notebook (S.I.N.) Quizzes- 2- 3 per 6 weeks • Curriculum Based Assessments (CBA) • Test grade • Required by the district each six weeks

  5. Language Arts • Novel studies- beginning with Wonder • Springboard workbook used in Pre-AP • Books and reading • Library check-out is every 2 weeks on Thursday. • Students need to be reading at home daily. • CBAs: Curriculum Based Assessments • Test grade, given at end of 1st-4th grading periods • STAAR Reading- May 15, 2018

  6. Social Studies: World Cultures • Geography, History, Government, Economics, Religion & Culture 1st Semester: North & South America, Western Europe 2nd Semester: • Russia & Eurasian Republics, Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa & Middle East, South Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, & Australia

  7. Social Studies Continued • Routines: Agenda, Warm-up, Soc. St. Notebooks • Spring Culture Fair: Australia • School-wide event celebrating traditions & cultures from around the world!

  8. Math • Math Spiral for notes • Homework: Assigned on Monday due Friday, Online thru Mentoring Minds! Self correcting • Study notes and PRACTICE • Class Participation • Ask Questions

  9. Team Time • AVID – Advancement Via Individual Determination • Planners – checking every night- Team Incentives at the end of the six weeks • Binders – staying organized- Mrs. Hermann • Parents, students, & teachers working together to help the student be successful.

  10. Skyward • There is a link on the MISD website: • www.mansfieldisd.org • Check assignments & grades – Mrs. Hermann • Sign up to get teacher notifications & emails • Parents can change settings so they will get notifications (Ex: failing grades, absences, etc.)
