2nd Network MeetingIntroduction to BIOMASTER 1st March 2012 James Thorpe, Climate Change Project Officer
Biomaster… • European project running from May 2011 till May 2014 • Aim is to promote the production and use of biomethane as a transport fuel • European partners from Sweden, Austria, Italy and Poland. • Project partners in the UK are Norse and National Grid Gas.
What we envisage from the project… • Currently we are doing the feasibility work into whether an AD plant in Norfolk is something the County Council want to pursue. • This includes looking at feedstock availability and security, financial modelling a plant and potential site locations. • Initial work suggests that it is feasible and we have had initial conversations with interested organisations.
Consortium Meeting in Norwich with a visit down to Adnams AD plant in Southwold Farmers Guide nearly complete Work around feedstock availability and the challenges we face and how we will overcome them Activities since last meeting…
Aim of today • Meeting today to focus on feed stock availability, collection issues and pre treatment of the feed stock for AD. • What issues there are with above • What could NCC do to potentially help with these issues • Would an NCC AD plant interest you?
