Goals for the 2004-2005 Season • Training period: • Enter the Train-to-Win phase of ADM with our top Sr. athletes • Deliver high performance program based on our experience, • more attention focused on one-to-one work • Continued refining of basic technical skills and develop biathlon- • specific skills needed for international excellence • Competition period: • 2 athletes ranked in the top 50 in overall WC standings • 1x top 20 and 1x top 16 result at WCH 05 • Retain our senior athletes in program until the 2006 Olympics • 2 athletes qualified for nomination to the 2006 OWG (priority 1)

NTP 2004-2005 Training groups (AAP – Annex A): Senior Team (Richard) – 5 athletes Olympic Squad: Zina Kocher, Robin Clegg, David Leoni, Sandra Keith Sr. Dev Squad: Marie-Pierre Parent, ( Gerhardt Klann TBC, Louise Weber and Barb Sharp have declined) Junior Dev Squad – 9 athletes East (Daniel): JP LeGuellec, Francois Leboeuf, Jaime Robb, Joannie Haché West (Geret): Lindsey Bolivar,Sonya Erasmus, Dylan Costuros-Hay, Nicki Pacas (Jessie Jaques has declined) Development Program – 6 athletes East (Daniel): Maxime Lebeouf, Marc-André Bédard, Patrick Côté West (Geret): Megan Imrie, Cindy Clark, Brendan Green (Trevor Wilson has declined)

  5. NTP 2004-2005 Selection criteria Senior program • Zina and Robin preselected for 2004-2005 • David and Sandra preselected for WC 1-2-3 • Senior trials 11-14 Dec 2004 for WC 4-5-6 • 4M/4W for WCh (use of Nor Am 4th man) • Use of WC 9 if required HPWG discretion (top 50 or NC) - sanction

NTP 2004-2005 Selection criteria Junior/Youth program • Jean Philippe is preselected for 2004-2005 • International criteria athletes to EC 3-4 (Dec 04) • Use of Nationals for WCH selection 26-30 Jan 05 • Top athlete from each class selected • Other athletes can be sanctioned enforcing the principle of natural gaps to complete team selection • Top ½ placing will be reimbursed

NTP 2004-2005 Senior Development Squad program • Training centre activities • Participation in other camps (user-pay) Olympic Squad program (above +) • Various camps (Bike, Haig (2), Glacier camp) • Early snow camp and EC 1-2 • BWC 1-2-3 pre-Xmas tour National Team Program (post selection) • BWC 4-5-6 (up to 2M/3W) • BWC 7-8 and WCh (up to 4M/4W) • Use of WC 9 if required (top 50 or NC)

  8. NTP 2004-2005 Junior Development Squad program • Training centre activities, including camps • EC 3-4 pre-Xmas (JP LeGuellec 100%, Jr Dev Squad International standard 50% funded – Domestic standard sanction) National Team Program (post selection) • Junior –Youth WCh (Finland) 14 days

  9. NTP 2004-2005 Team staffing requirements Senior team • Olympic team nucleus (Roger- Richard- Wax Tech) BWC 1-2-3-7-8 + WCh (+1 tech) • Select up to 2 tour coaches for BWC 4-5-6

  11. NTP 2004-2005 Total staffing requirements: Team Leader - Roger 59 days Senior Coach – Richard 97 days Junior coaches – Daniel/Geret 35 days Senior Team Wax Tech – 119 days Assistant Technician for WCh – 10 days 2 tour coaches BWC 4-5-6 - 22 days Junior/Youth WCH tour coaches/techs: 15 days

  12. NTP 2004-2005 - Staffing Process Assistant Coaching Support • East – hiring process from 2003 • West – Eligibility list being developed via call letter (May 31st) National team tour positions • Call letter for all positions with statement of qualifications (July 04)

TORINO 2006 - CRITERIA Prior to 2006 Biathlon Canada was subject to Schedule A criteria approved by the Canadian Olympic Committee For 2006 OWG (Torino) the COC has approved the use of International Federation criteria (outlined below): Men Nation Cup standing and quota: Rank Register Start Total 1-5 6 4 30 6-20 5 4 75 21-28 1 1 8 Women Nation Cup standing and quota: Rank Register Start Total 1-5 6 4 30 6-15 5 4 50 16-20 4 4 20 21-27 1 1 8

TORINO 2006 - CRITERIA • 2 Principles driving the Biathlon Canada Olympic selection process: • Demonstrated Excellence (COC standards) • Top 16 placings (individual athlete) • Top 12 placings in relay • Predicted Excellence (rising star criteria) • Based on developmental periods • The Olympic selection document contains priority rankings for athletes meeting qualification standards • Our principles of selection may lead to the nomination of a smaller more competitive team than allowed by the IF criteria.

HP Budget 2004-2005 Success in High Performance comes with a price 04-05 HP Budget:$444.5K Increase due to: • Increased tour activities required for Olympic qualification • Increase in funding to re-establish service support in CTC and maintain Talent ID projects • Now includes expenditure through partners

  18. HP Program 2004-2005 Proposed Motion: Move to accept in principle the High Performance Program and budget as presented pending approval of the association budget.
