In Greek mythology, Europa was the daughter of the King of Tyre, now in Lebanon. There is no scientific explanation of why the continent bears this name. The reason is probably accidental, just as the American continent declared its name from Amerigo Vespucci.

DIVERSITY • DEFINITION: “A group or a variety of different things.” • Europe have a big diversity and variety of landscapes and have a lot of countries with a different climates and also have a big diversity of cultures and a lot of other things.
WAR DEFINITION: “Open armedconflictbetweentwo or more parties, nations, or states.” In Europe there have been many wars that have separated and joined at once. Today, thanks to those past wars we are what we are now.For example, the WWII separated many countries but also joined others, by ideology, religion… With that war we started a union, the UE.
CIVILIZATION • DEFINITION: “the total culture and way of life of a particular people, nation, region, or period” • Europe is very civilized because there are no wars and no dictatorship at this time and countries are governed by democracy. We are joined basically by the religion.
FREEDOM • DEFINITION: “the power or liberty to order one's own actions” • Because each person can have their own opinions, can speak the language that they want, and you can do whatever you want but respecting the law. The countries in UE are free to have their own opinions and decisions themselves, but got together to form an economic union.
DEMOCRACY • DEFINITION: “1.the practice or spirit of social equality 2. government by the people or their elected representatives” • All the countries from Europe are governed by democracy. We have our own vote to elect the representant that choose the best for us.
COOPERATION • DEFINITION: “jointoperation or action” • This word is very important because Europe was formed by the cooperation of different countries to achieve new aims all together.
KEYIMAGES We think that this photo represents democracy in Europe. Even tough in the EU we have the right to vote in European commissions we have voted a few times.
The European coin, euro, defines us and join some countries economically, makes some countries more united by the market.

NEW DEFINITION • Europe is a civilization joined by the religion and his story. We work cooperately, helping each other, we live in harmony. Europe is a continent with freedom; we have no culture and mentality frontiers and it’s a very diverse continent. We have passed through many wars, most of them because of the ambition of kings and heads of State, but actually we are in democracy so we can choose who we think is the best represent for us and choose the best for the country.
