Climate targets Hørsholm Municipality • The Municipality of Hørsholm covers 36 km , app. 24,000 citizens and 11,000 addresses. • The Climate policy in Hørsholm Municipality emphasizes that: • We will meet the climate changes by adjusting urban planning to include and acknowledge future changes in climate • The climate end energy target is CO2 emissions reduced by 20% in 2020 - baseline 2009 • The climate targets for Hørsholm Municipality as a corporation are: • to reduce CO2 emissions by 2 % a year in 2010-11 and 4% a year in 2012-14 (DN – Climate Communities, The Danish Society for Nature Conservation). • to reduce electricity consumption by 2 % a year in 2008-2010 (Curve Breaker Agreement - Danish Energy Saving Trust) 2

Solhuset- An Active House for Children • Has a sound indoor climate with fresh air and 3.5 times as much daylight as required by current building regulations • CO2 neutral and self-sufficient in energy • An estimated energy consumption lower than 50% of the requirement set by current building regulations • Windows supply a considerable amount of the heat consumed during the heating season • Developed and built in a public-private partnership between the municipality of Hørsholm, VKR Holding A/S and “Lions Børnehuse” (Lions children’s houses).

A healthy indoor climate - Teaching considerateness through play • A healthy indoor climate coupled with a ”climate” approach to education • Children will take their experiences from Solhuset with them and naturally consider the environment and climate throughout their lives • Solhuset will lead the climate education in Hørsholm and bring it into all Hørsholm child care centres and elementary schools
