  1. CSD Strategic Plan

  2. Our Vision: Participation The central driver of our work Multi-dimensional: engage, learn, work, have a voice Supported by research Drawn from Social Inclusion literature

  3. Our Goals

  4. Goal: A Positive Start Individuals and families receive services and support when they are needed. • “so that we can make the most of life”. • Includes, but is not limited to prevention and early intervention work for children under the age of 8. • It also means starting positively across the whole life span – transitioning into security of housing tenure; about a fresh start in a social enterprise that empowers and dignifies; support for an emerging young artist.

  5. Goal: Support to Grow and Develop • Individuals and families have the skills, support and information to join in. “so that we can make the most of life” • Day-to-day support for clients and communities. • Support that enables clients and community members to gain valuable and important “life experience”.

  6. Goal: A Productive Life • People of Canberra are valued contributors to our community. “so that I can be my best” • Paid work, volunteering and caring are all important roles in our community • Paid work can be important in terms of securing household income; • Volunteering and paid work can both be important avenues for forming social connections and as stepping stones to other opportunities; and • Volunteering and caring are both recognised as vital contributions to the ACT community.

  7. Goal: A Connected Community • People of Canberra come together to build a vibrant, resilient and connected community. “so that we all get a go” • When people are connected, they have strong family, social and support networks, good levels of trust, community and civic engagement, opportunities to celebrate their culture and engage in recreational activities. • Connection is about harnessing the assets within individuals, groups and neighbourhoods, so that people are more resilient in the face of challenges. • This goal includes overcoming barriers that prevent people from taking part in social, economic and cultural life.

  8. Goal: A Leading Organisation • Leading in the way we work for the people of Canberra. “by listening, responding and working together as we strive for excellence” • Emphasising continuous improvement in staff capacity, service delivery, governance, collaboration and accountability. • Bringing a focus on the Directorate working as One CSD, within One ACT Government and with the Community, Business and Arts Sectors.
