My Design Plan By: Leticia Carrasco October 17, 2009 Project 2
Needs Assessment: • The instructional / training problem or opportunity is that the Rio Hondo Junior High staff wants and needs to learn how to use Microsoft Photo-Story in order to create and present animated presentations that will be used along side with daily lessons. • The proposed solution is to create a user friendly training that will introduce the different aspects of how to use the Photo- Story Program in a step-by-step process in order for them to be able to create and design an eye appealing presentation for their students.
Instructional Goal: After completing this training, Rio Hondo Junior High teachers and staff will be able to create their own multimedia presentations using Microsoft Photo-Story 3.
Performance Objectives: After completing the training, the learners will be able to: • Open Photo-Story 3 to begin a new project • Import and arrange images to the timeline • edit images as necessary • add titles and effects • add narration • add music • save the project • export the project for viewing
Assessment of Learning Outcomes: • The summative assessment that will be used to evaluate the learner’s outcome will consist in the learners ability to create their own presentation using the Microsoft Photo Story Program. • The learners should also be able to add, upload and edit pictures to their presentation. This will include adding uploading and adding music too.
Learner Characteristics: • This training module will be provided to all Rio Hondo Junior High Staff. • The majority of the learners posses basic computer skills. Some of these skills include: use of the internet, Microsoft programs and how to check their email. • Another skill that the learner will need to posses in order to complete this training is that they need to know how to upload pictures and music in order to be able to add it to their presentation.
Learning Context: • A computer lab will be available all day to those attending the training. • The computer lab will consist of about 15 computers with Internet access.
Instructional Strategies: Introduction • Having a hard time finding new ways to capture your students attention during a lesson? If so, Microsoft Photo Story is for you! This program allows you to upload, edit, and add text to your presentation. Not only that, but it also gives you the opportunity to transform your presentation into something unique by adding music or a voice narration. If you thought Power Point was great, Photo Story will definitely capture your learners attention! Instructional Goal (b) The instructional goal for this training is that once the learners have finished with the training, they will be able to create their own presentations and/or lessons by simply using pictures and music or their choice.
Instructional Strategies: Complete guided tour on how to use Photo Story • Complete tour on how to upload, add and edit pictures to your presentation. • Complete tour on how to upload and add music to your presentation. • Complete guided tour on how to use Photo Story and its features. • Complete tour on how to start and create a new story presentation on your own.
Instructional Strategies How to develop your presentation. (a) Provide a step-by-step breakdown on how to upload pictures and how to incorporate them in the presentation being created. (b) Provide a step by step breakdown on how to add text to any picture. (c) Provide a step-by-step break down on how to create own music or upload choice of music into the project. (d) Provide a step-by-step breakdown on how to put together the presentation on their own.
Instructional Strategies: Assessment • The assessment will consist on the learner : • Being able to construct and put together their presentation on their own with the least help possible. • Being able to upload pictures and music in order to incorporate them into their presentation.
Instructional Resources: The learners will need the following: • Pen or pencil, and paper • Pictures of choice • Personal music • Computer • Internet access • Microsoft Photo Story Program
Formative Evaluation: • Strategy #1: My design plan will be evaluated by using the “small group evaluation.” This will involve getting several learners to get together in order to work and evaluate each other created presentations. They will be able to comment on any changes needed to improve each others presentation. • Strategy #2: My design plan will also be evaluated by using “Peer Evaluation.” This peer evaluation will be preformed by someone familiarized with the Photo Story program. They will be required to attend the training in order to make sure the training is easy to understand and user friendly.
Summary: In conclusion, this training will allow the learners to familiarize themselves with the Photo Story Program. This will be done by providing a step-by-step module that will be easy to understand. The instructional goal for this training is for the learners to be able to create a lesson using the Photo Story Program on their own.
